Jason (Jay) M. Meschke joined EFL Associates in 1992, bringing with him a unique perspective honed in his years as a senior executive with respected financial institutions. He served as Senior Vice President of EFL Associates until December 2000, when he was appointed President. As such, he guides the firm in day-to-day operations.

Meschke can easily place himself in the shoes of his clients because he faced many of the same challenges and strategic issues in the past. Not only has he run organizations but he also developed a deep understanding of a myriad of industries . . . an understanding that goes beyond that of the average executive search consultant. Consequently, this versatility allows him to effectively serve not only large, publicly-held companies and venture capital start-ups, but also not-for-profit entities.

Meschke’s portfolio of successfully completed, senior-level search assignments has touched the aerospace, energy, agribusiness/food, not-for-profit, manufacturing, health care and financial services industries across the country. From a functional perspective, he has helped to hire for such positions as President/CEO, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, Chief Information Officer, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, and Executive Director while also noting experience in recruiting for Board of Director positions. Based upon this success, he was repeatedly recognized as EFL Associates’ Consultant of the Year prior to being named President.

Meschke’s career began with one of the country’s 25 largest banks, RepublicBank, Dallas, as a corporate lending officer (1982). He joined Corporate Woods Bank in Kansas City as Chief Lending Officer (1985) and subsequently purchased a minority ownership block. In 1988, he helped sell this financial institution to Fourth Financial Corporation, a large midwestern bank holding company.

Meschke was attracted to another challenge in 1989 and joined Kansas National Bank, a suburban, community bank in Kansas City. This “workout institution” was led and turned around by Meschke as its President until the institution was successfully sold to a publicly held banking organization.

In addition to his business endeavors, Meschke has been highly active in civic and philanthropic pursuits. He is past Chairman of the Shawnee Mission Medical Center Foundation and presently serves on the boards of directors of the University of Kansas School of Business (Chairman of the Nominating Committee) and KCPT-Public Television. Meschke is also a former board member of the St. Luke’s Shawnee Mission Medical Group, the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation, the University of Kansas Alumni Association (Kansas City Chapter), the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, and the Great American Basketball League. He further functioned as an instructor for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac Entrepreneur’s Program.

Meschke has authored numerous articles on career management and strategic planning for the Kansas City Business Journal, Greater Kansas City Business magazine, and Kansas City Small Business Monthly. He was also cited as a contributing author for a book titled Entrepreneurs: You Can’t Afford the School of Hard Knocks.
